1981 - Early Diana
In 1981 my friend Barbara Kapusnak gave me her Diana camera, and I have yet to "look back" after three decades of working with plastic cameras, Polaroid and some of its variations, and, at one point, images which were chemically induced. Prior to this, every photo I had taken was what I call "copping riffs," that is, imitating photographers I admired, usually with a Leica camera (since this was the camera of choice for most of these people). This first portfolio shows early Diana images, the later ones being from a brief spell working in New York City, which is when I actually became a photographer.
